Saltwater pools still need regular testing, cleaning, and equipment attention
A saltwater pool uses a chlorine generator to convert dissolved salt into sanitizer. It does not eliminate the need for chlorine management, pH control, brushing, filtration, stabilizer review, or routine debris removal.
Salt systems can experience scale on the cell, incorrect output settings, low or high salt readings, flow errors, and seasonal changes in chlorine demand. Water chemistry also affects surfaces, metals, equipment, and swimmer comfort.

Is a saltwater pool chlorine-free?
No. A saltwater chlorine generator produces chlorine from salt. The pool still requires appropriate sanitizer levels and balanced water.
How often should a salt cell be cleaned?
Clean only as needed and according to manufacturer guidance. Over-cleaning or using overly strong acid can shorten cell life. Scale, water balance, and system readings should guide service.
